Our philosophy and commitment to accessibility
The Race exists to help people understand their relationship with work. Charging money would create a barrier between people and potentially life-changing perspective shifts.
The people most trapped in destructive work wheels are often those with the least financial freedom. They shouldn't have to pay to understand their situation.
Work stress and burnout are universal experiences. Our tool should be available to anyone, anywhere, regardless of their economic circumstances or local currency.
When everyone can participate, we build a more diverse and representative community of perspectives on work and meaning.
What we promise and what we'll never do
Our sustainable funding model
We accept cryptocurrency donations from community members who found value in The Race and want to help others access it.
Voluntary donations only. The experience is identical whether you donate or not.
If The Race helped you gain perspective on your work life, consider supporting it so others can have the same opportunity.
Even $5 helps. Every contribution keeps this free for everyone.
No. The core experience of The Race will always be free. This is a fundamental commitment, not a marketing strategy.
If we ever build additional tools or resources, we might offer them separately, but the perspective exploration, game, and community features you see today will remain free forever.
If donations don't cover costs, we'll first reduce features that cost money (like AI integration) while keeping the core perspective exploration free.
As a last resort, we'd make the entire project open source so the community could host it independently, rather than charge users.
Most "free" services make money by selling your data, showing ads, or pressuring you to upgrade. We do none of these.
We're free because we believe in the mission, funded by people who share that belief. It's closer to a public service or charity than a business.
We use Google Analytics to understand how people use the site (like "most people spend 3 minutes on the perspective selector"). This helps us improve the experience.
We don't collect personal information, sell data, or track you across other websites. Everything is anonymous and aggregated.
The Race is designed for personal exploration and understanding. If you're a therapist, coach, or educator who wants to reference it with clients, that's wonderful.
For larger commercial use (like integrating into a paid service), please contact us to discuss appropriate licensing.
Absolutely. Crisis resources and mental health information will always be free and prominent. We consider this a moral obligation.
If someone is in crisis, the last thing they should worry about is whether they can afford help.
Join thousands of others who have discovered new perspectives on their work experience.
